About

I am 43 years old and based in the UK. I qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2004 after gaining a degree in Biology with Human Physiology and worked out of several big chain gyms for around 7 years. In 2011 I opened one of the first CrossFit boxes in the country. I loved how CrossFit energised the fitness industry with its methodology and I expanded my coaching knowledge greatly over the next few years whilst running the box.

Over my 16 years of being a coach I have worked with a huge number of clients who have all had different goals and aims. Goals like to put on more muscle mass, run a first marathon, get fit after having a baby, get in shape for a wedding and of course the universal goal of 'losing weight and toning up'. This was fantastic experience for learning my profession across a broad range of fitness disciplines but with a background in gymnastics I have always had a passion for bodyweight movement so this is what I have specialised in over the last ten years.

Alongside barbell work, aerobic conditioning (getting your lungs working more efficiently) and some yoga and flexibility sessions, bodyweight training compliments boardsports such as surfing, snowboarding, SUPing and windsurfing perfectly as it gets you stronger, leaner, more balanced, agile and supple with minimal equipment.

Over the years my style of training has developed and been refined for both my clients and myself to the point where I know what the best and most time efficient way to reach a certain goal is. You don't need hours in the gym every session and six days out of seven working out. You need intelligently programmed, varying intensity sessions coupled with a healthy eating plan and regular flexibility sessions.

I am a big believer in the benefits of flexibility and Yoga and have incorporated it more into my own training over the last five years. Staying supple is one of the biggest preventers of injury so flexibility sessions are a big part my clients programmes.

My Fitness For Boardsports online coaching focuses on people who are interested in boardsports because I love these sports myself. I know what training works best to get you ready to paddle out through lines of whitewater during a winter swell, what muscles you want strong when you are into your third day on the slopes and how important core strength and shoulders are when you StandUp Paddleboard.

I also know what it's like to not get on your board as much as you want! To know you're ready at any time of the year to fully engage and enjoy the precious time you do spend on your board is so important.

My main boardsports are surfing and snowboarding and I have been fortunate to surf and board in some of the best places on the planet over the last 20 years including Hawaii, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Australia, North America, Morocco and New Zealand. I have also been a surf and kiting coach for a few seasons in Cornwall in the South West of England.

If boardsports aren’t your thing, don't worry!
